Review consultations may be billed at either a standard or complex review rate depending on the complexity of your condition, the time required, and any additional review, planning or coordination involved in your care.
What is a Complex Consultation?
Some patients require a higher level of assessment, review and ongoing management. Examples may include:
- Complex or multiple haematological conditions
- Review of extensive pathology, imaging or specialist reports
- Detailed treatment planning
- Coordination of care with other specialists or healthcare providers
- Consultations that require substantially more time than a standard appointment
Where appropriate, your specialist may recommend or conduct a Complex Consultation to ensure sufficient time is available to address your needs.
Medicare Rebates
Most consultations attract a Medicare rebate. The rebate received will depend on the consultation type and Medicare item billed.
Financial Hardship
We understand that healthcare costs can place financial pressure on some individuals and families.
We believe that financial circumstances should not prevent patients from accessing necessary specialist care. If the cost of an appointment may be a barrier, please contact our team before your appointment so that available options can be discussed confidentially.
Additional Fees
Please note that fees may apply for services provided outside of a consultation, including:
- Completion of forms and reports
- Prescription requests without an appointment
- Missed appointments or appointments cancelled with insufficient notice
